Jason Bonham Says He “Was A Little Shocked” After Being “Let Go” From Sammy Hagar’s Band

In a new interview with Ultimate Classic Rock, drummer Jason Bonham opened up about his recent departure from Sammy Hagar’s Best of All Worlds touring band. Bonham, the son of legendary Led Zeppelin drummer John Bonham, played in Hagar’s live band since 2015 and was on drums for three of Sammy’s studio albums. But during the end of their summer tour, Bonham had to leave the band to care for his ailing mother. Kenny Aronoff filled in for Bonham during the final four dates of the tour, and when Hagar announced a 2025 Las Vegas residency, the Red Rocker decided to stick with Aronoff on drums. “Sammy rang me awhile ago,” Bonham recalled. “He was asking about my mom, but then he said, ‘Y’know, I’m not gonna do much next year, and I’m gonna go with Kenny.’ I was a little shocked, because we were on fire at the end of the tour. And I got a little upset. That was strange, after 10 years of being with him.” (Consequence of Sound
